Invitation to the 2nd Ukrainian Scout Jamboree!

The 2nd Ukrainian Scout Jamboree concerning 20 years of Plast renewal in Ukraine is the eccentric meeting with unusual sessions and hundreds of new friends!

Jamboree is an old traditional scout meeting of young people from all over the world. I

This year all-Ukrainian Jamboree will take place for the first time in Ukraine since 1996. Do not loose the chance to participate in the biggest Plast event of the year!

August 19-23, 2009, the valley of Dzhurynskyy waterfall, near the village of Nyrkiv, Zalishchynskyy district, Ternopil oblast.


The 2nd Ukrainian Jamboree aims to combine celebration of the important occasion in the Plast history with community service (renovation of the castle in Chervonograd and cleaning up of the territory around waterfall Dzhurinskyy) and various cognitive educational programs. It will enable to acquaint members to Plast and scouts from other organizations and countries with each other and with mutual efforts conduct a good deed which is another Plast principle and scout method of education.

Another important task of Jamboree 2009 is preparation for the celebration of the centennial of Plast foundation in 2012 – it is going to be similar event, but with more participants from all over the world. That is why the 2nd all-Ukrainian Jamboree is sort of development and checking of the mechanisms for conduction of such events in Ukraine.

The Form of Conduction of the Event is similar as in other countries in the world with high quantity of the participants – participants are divided into smaller sub-camps for maximal effective management of big numbers of people. There also going to be different types of such camps (environmental, social, sports, etc) and different activities connected with creation of special atmosphere, which lasts always in the people’s minds who participated in Jamboree.

Participants are:
- participants of all-Ukrainian camps;
- Plast members who applied separately before July 15. They will be grouped by divisions (1 leader per 10 participants);
- members of other scout organizations of Ukraine;
- members of scout organizations of other countries.

Program
19 Aug – sightseeing and excursions in Lviv ("cultural capital of Ukraine").
20 Aug – getting to the Jamboree, habitation, opening ceremony and festive campfire.
21-22 Aug – wide range activities and other program.
23 Aug – closing ceremony, getting to Lviv.
24 Aug – taking part in the celebrations to the 19th anniversary of Ukrainian Independence.

Each group can take part in 7 activities at the Jamboree:
1. Social: preservation of historical monuments which are near to the venue of the Jamboree. Every participant will have a real possibility to change environmental situation around the Jamboree place for a better.
2. Rescue: demonstrations by MIA, MES, role playing games for participants, training of young lifeguards, first aid.
3. Water: rafting on kayaks and catamarans.
4. Air: paragliding and hang gliding.
5. Gaming: a series of a role play games.
6. Art: master classes in various arts.
7. Sport: the emphasis will be placed on unconventional sports such as archery, fencing etc. while program also provides usual sports sites including bicycling and Jamboree Football Championship.

All activities will be divided into two categories – mandatory participation and for own choice. That means that every group's program will consists of 60% activities where participation is required and 40% of activities that could be used on their own mind.

Delegations at Jamboree
Each delegation shall divide into separate groups in advance and send their list of participants before deadline. Groups can be both permanent and temporary (created only for Jamboree). It is desired that group members are of similar age and scout experience. Group is the main working unit in Jamboree. There can be 8-12 participants + 1 leader. Application deadline is June 15.

Travel
Delegations travel to Lviv by themselves, transportation from Lviv to the Jamboree place and back to Lviv will be organized by the preparation committee. Check the location of Jamboree with Google Maps!

Meals
Meals will be organized although café will be also available on the territory of Jamboree.

Network Coverage
There is national GSM-operators coverage at the Jamboree’s territory. Besides, it is planned to organize Internet club that will help to keep the contact with «outer world».

Participation fee is UAH 600 (60 Euro) per person.
The fee covers: meals and accommodation (August 19, 24), excursions in Lviv, transportation from Lviv to the Jamboree place and back.
